(a)    Received an award of the Bangladesh Association for the Advancement of Science for the Best Research Presentation during the 19^th Annual Bangladesh Science Conference held at Jahangirnagar University, Dhaka in 1996.

(b)   Received the Certificate of Merit from the Institution of Engineers, India for the paper entitled, “Weather and passenger crowding criteria on stability of inland passenger vessels” in 1994.

(c)    Winner of the Best Speaker’s Award in the Japanese Language Speech Contest organized by the Embassy of Japan in Bangladesh in 1980 and also in 1981.

(d)   Visited Japan in 1981 at the invitation of Japan Foundation in recognition of my excellence in Japanese language.

(e)    Received the Fellowship of the Matsumae International Foundation (Japan) and carried out  Post-Doctoral research in the Department of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering in the University of Tokyo (Japan) during the period from 1-7-1987 to 31-1-1988.

(f)     I was invited to deliver a lecture at the Fifth Chittagong Conference on Mathematical Physics held at the University of Chittagong  during 23-25 January, 1999.
